Imagine the first bite of a succulent chicken breast, smothered in a tangy and rich lemon butter sauce, releasing a symphony of citrusy flavors that tantalize your taste buds. The aroma of fresh lemons and herbs wafts through the air, teasing your senses and building anticipation. This Lemon Chicken Recipe with Lemon Butter Sauce Dinner is a culinary masterpiece that will leave you wanting more.

What sets this recipe apart from others is its simplicity and efficiency. Unlike our breakfast casserole recipe, which requires a bit more planning and prep time, this dish can be prepared and cooked in under an hour. The key to its success lies in the quality of its ingredients and the technique used to prepare the lemon butter sauce.

Why This Recipe Works

  • The acidity in the lemon juice helps to break down the proteins in the chicken, resulting in a tender and juicy final product.
  • The use of a compound butter, infused with lemon zest and parsley, adds a richness and depth of flavor that elevates the dish to new heights.
  • The quick cooking time ensures that the chicken is cooked to perfection, while the lemon butter sauce is reduced to a velvety glaze.

Key Ingredients

When it comes to making a great lemon chicken recipe, the quality of the ingredients is paramount. Fresh lemons, high-quality chicken breasts, and a good compound butter are essential to achieving the right balance of flavors. Additionally, using a flavorful herb like parsley adds a bright and freshness to the dish that complements the richness of the butter.

Another important aspect to consider is the type of chicken breasts you use. Look for boneless, skinless breasts that are hormone-free and organic. This will ensure that your chicken is not only more flavorful but also better for you.

Yield:
4 Servings

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

2 lemons, juiced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh lemon slices, for serving

Directions

1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Rinse the chicken breasts and pat them dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.

2
In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Transfer the chicken to a baking sheet and set aside.

3
In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant. Pour in the lemon juice and bring the mixture to a simmer. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.

4
Return the chicken breasts to the skillet and spoon some of the lemon butter sauce over the top of each breast. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce is caramelized.

5
Remove the skillet from the oven and sprinkle the parsley over the top of each chicken breast. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh lemon slices and additional parsley if desired.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat the chicken in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until warmed through. You can also reheat the chicken in the microwave, but be careful not to overcook it.
